Travel Advice

The British Gas Great London Swim will take place Royal Victoria Dock in the Royal Docks complex near Canary Wharf and the ExCel Exhibition Centre in the East End of the capital.
How to get there:

By Public Transport

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) provides a great service to the Royal Victoria Dock from the centre of London. Access the DLR from the Tube at Bank or Tower Gateway and and exit at either the Royal Victoria stop or Custom House - both are within very short walking distance to the start and finish line (see course map).

By Bus

Docklands is also only a short bus ride from Canning Town. Take the 474 from stop B to Silvertown Flyover, or bus 147 or 241 from stop C to Royal Victoria.

Walk

From Canning Town, the Event Village is only a 7 minute walk along the Silvertown Way, just follow signs for ExCel.

By Car

From the West (City Centre): head along the A13 (East¬bound). Follow signs for the ExCel Exhibition Centre over the Silvertown Way flyover and head for Peruvian Wharf at the south end of the flyover. Peruvian Wharf is only a 10 minute walk to the site.

From the East: head along the A13 (Westbound). Exit the A13, following the signs for the A1020 (Woolwich Ferry). Take the A1020 and at the next roundabout take the 4th exit along Royal Albert Way. Follow the Royal Albert Way and take the exit sign¬posted for Silvertown. Before the flyover, exit at Peruvian Wharf. The event site is a 10 minute walk from Peruvian Way.

Cycle

Warm up for the event by cycling to it. There will be bicycle racks near the start area.

By Air

If you are coming from further afield, the London City Airport is only a 5 minute taxi journey from the Royal Victoria Dock.
