About the British Gas Great North Swim
Event start time:
Your start time will be printed on the envelope of your event pack and will also be in your confirmation email, which you should have received when you entered.
We recommend arriving at the event site an hour before you swim to make sure you have plenty of time to get changed and make your way through check in.
- Check in will open 30 minutes before your start time and will close 10 minutes before.
- If you miss your 'wave start time' we may not be able to move you to another wave, as we have a strict swimmer/safety boat ratio and all waves are currently full.
- Wave changes are now NOT allowed for the British Gas Great North Swim as numbers and timing chips have all been allocated.
- Any problems on the day please go to the Information Point.

Your Great Swim Event Pack
Your Great Swim pack will arrive approximately two weeks before the event.
This will contain:
- Your swim hat;
- Timing chip;
- And a competitor’s information guide with baggage label.
